We are inviting you to join us for our 12th Annual Fundraising Banquet on Thursday, April 2Oth, beginning at 6:00PM. This year’s banquet will be held in the Ballroom of the Lake Jackson Civic Center and will be catered by On the River. Prompted by a comment from our previous director, Bobby Fuller, our theme is “Faces.” As Bobby’s tenure was coming to a close and during our training time together he said to me, “Chris, I’ve just tried to ‘Show Up and Love People.’” The question is, who are those people? During our banquet we will endeavor to show each of you just who those people are. Those people are seafarers, truck drivers and port workers who have a face, a name and family. Those people are from 40 to 45 different countries, including Canada and Mexico and many states in between .Those people are also in our neighborhoods and in our communities. At TPM our assignment and purpose are clear: to be a witness of Jesus for the purpose of letting people know how much God loves them. In other words, “Show Up and Love People.”
At this “Faces” banquet, you will learn about and see some of what is going on in and through Texas Port Ministry. We intend to help you discover how and why you should consider being involved in what we do. You will also hear about what we are doing now and what we hope to do in the future. To help us accomplish these goals we are excited to announce that our guest speaker will be Nicholaj Wibe who is the Secretary General of the Danish Seamen's Mission. The Danish Seaman’s Mission is responsible for seafaring ministry for Denmark and Greenland. Continuing this year, we will keep some changes that we started last year. In order to make every dollar you give a tax deductible charitable contribution, we ask you to prayerfully consider giving on the night of the banquet. We will not have a silent auction. And, we will not be selling tables. We will be reserving tables of 8 in the name of the individual, church or organization. Individual and sets of seats are also available.
